Complexity and Connection: Determinants of performance for Riders with Ash Wallace
Rider performance in equestrian sport is shaped by a complex and highly connected system, where success depends on understanding both the human and equine contributors to performance. By identifying key human determinants, physical, psychological, and lifestyle related, alongside on-horse and off-horse performance , riders and support teams can take a whole-system approach to development.
Applying a comprehensive profiling model helps clarify how these factors interact, enabling early recognition of performance or injury risk before they escalate. Central to this process is the effective use of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring riders are supported holistically to enhance performance, resilience, and long-term partnership with the horse
